Assignment: Blogging Requirements

This assignment is posted on Blackboard, but I promised I would post it here so you can ask questions about it. Whether now or later in the semester, if you have any questions about your CGT 512 blogging assignment, please post a question in the comments to this post.

You can also ask me questions privately, by email. But if you think other students may benefit from the answer, ask your question here.

Please make sure you subscribe to the comments on this post, so you can be informed of new questions and answers.

The video below demonstrates selective perception and change blindness:

More brief but entertaining and informative videos from Daniel Simons available on his site, Invisible Gorilla.

To Do for next week:

  • Readings (see syllabus)
  • Remember to attend to your blog!
  • Look at contents of Cooper chapters for Sept 21 and 28 & be prepared to choose a topic for your presentation. Look for a blog post about the presentations on Sept 21 and 28.
  • Read the book Don’t Make Me Think by Sept 21

Class notes: Week 2 – User-centeredness as an approach

We discussed in class key concepts from the readings in order to get the BIG PICTURE about user-centered, and more specifically, goal-directed design. They can be thought of as general approaches to design (and even life!), or as a process to be followed, that includes a set of design principles.

As soon as a student emails me the list of concepts we put on the board, I will paste it here.

Your TO DO list for Week 3 includes:

1.    Set up RSS feed reader
2.    Subscribe to classmates’ blogs
3.    Find ONE interesting blog related to class (besides UX Magazine) and subscribe to it; Also write a blog post about it: URL, what it is about, who authors it, why it is interesting
4.    Class readings – will be posted on BB before the weekend
5.    Keep blogging & commenting – please consider blogging your take-away from class discussion (and including your concept map)

Questions? Comments about class? Suggestions? Please let me know in the comments below.
